SCAM-AVOIDANCE GUIDE
Verify the business before you authorize the job.
Urgent repairs are when vague names, local-looking ads, and unclear prices do the most damage. Slow down long enough to confirm who you are calling.
Use the direct business
- Call the phone number on the business’s own website or on a public directory record.
- Ask who is coming, which company is responsible, and the service-call fee before the worker leaves for your address.
- Get the total expected price and what could change it before work starts.
Watch for pressure
- Do not authorize work from a vague “starting at” quote.
- Pause if the name on the vehicle, invoice, and phone call do not match.
- Keep your estimate, invoice, messages, and before/after photos.
Check a badge
See a TrustNorthampton badge? Click it. A real one opens that business's listing on our site. If it doesn't, the badge is fake.
A badge image alone is not verification. Use the business name and direct phone number on the linked record before you call.
Need a fast price check?
